I. First Contact

Some of the most pivotal moments in ancient mythologies revolve around the moment preternatural beings first encounter the human race. Write a piece of flash fiction which re-visits how the spirits of Animism first came to know humankind--and the repercussions those events would have forever after.

II. Early Civilization

Civilizations in antiquity had their patron spirits, but which spirits truly cared for the ancient tribes of yore? Write a piece of flash fiction detailing the relationship between one of Animism’s spirits and the early peoples in the Cradle of Civilization. Were the spirits spiteful or benevolent? You tell us.

III. Heroes & Heroines

Supernatural deities invariably choose their champions; humans who have proven themselves worthy of the gods’ affections. Write a flash fiction piece telling the tale of one of Animism’s ancient heroes, be it the excerpt of an epic poem or a bard’s lyrics celebrating their exploits.

Millennial conspiracies. Apocalypse hysteria. For generations, societies have predicted the end of the world with an oft-righteous trepidation. Write a short piece about the manner in which Animism’s three spirits have inspired these tales of apocalypse - and the likelihood of their eventual fruition.

Lewis & Clark, Leif Erickson, Marco Polo. The world’s most famous explorers have gone to the far corners of the earth in the name of riches, trade and expansion. But what manner of involvement did spirits such as The Trickster have in mankind’s most storied expeditions? Tell us in 1000 words.

In history, wars have been waged and battles have been fought in the name of some of earth’s oldest spiritual entities. Pen a piece of flash fiction, which elaborates on the role of Animism’s spirits in the rise (or fall) of some of history’s most famous soldiers, warriors and gladiators.
